Marvell-Elaine School District (MESD) held it’s Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on October 12, 2018.
“We are excited about our health center and the benefits it will provide for our students. And...we hope you are too.” said Dr. Cottoms in her welcome to the many guests who came out to help celebrate the grand opening of the MESD School Based Health Center. The School Based Health Center is expected to curve student absenteeism, and assist in keeping students and employees healthier, thereby improving student achievement. Dr. Cottoms said the clinic would not be possible without the assistance and encouragement of the Health Unit at ADE, the help of our partners, East Arkansas Family Health Centers, our community and all of our stakeholders.
Currently, the MESD School Based Health Center is only open three days a week, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week, and only services MESD employees and students. In the future more days will be added and the center will be open to the community . For more information about the center contact Ms. Latonia Cox, School Based Health Coordinator of the MESD School Based Health Center, at (870) 829-1221.
